The Surfers visited the National Portrait Gallery on Tuesday 24th January 2012 following its recent refurbishment.
Opening up and extending the Galleries has brought more daylight and a feeling of space into the building. There did not appear to be any shadows because of the clever use of lighting and glass ceiling panels.
The open design means that portraits and painting which have been in storage for many years are now on public view. This now means the Gallery can be visited again and again and still find points of interest at each visit. The Surfers found lots to interest them and will be paying another visit.
At the end of the visit we visited a well stocked shop and made the inevitable purchases!
There is also a cafeteria which the Surfers did not manage to enjoy.
Do try and pay a visit… It is well worth it!
