Silent Calls – Complaints about silent or abandoned calls have risen by 55% in the second quarter of the year according to new figures released by Ofcom.
Practically every household must have had these calls. We either have to listen to a spiel which is of no interest to us, cannot understand the accent or just cannot afford what is on offer – and cannot get the caller to SHUT UP!
Which is worse, having to listen to this complete stranger (often addressing you by name) or keep saying ‘hello’ – ‘hello’ – ‘hello’ before the caller cuts off and you are left so annoyed by the unsolicited intrusion’.
We are told so many call centres are now in foreign parts because of the financial aspect – but in this case could more thought be given to the diction of the operators, so often completely impossible to understand!
