Commonwealth Games

Those who watched the opening Games Ceremony on Wednesday will have been thrilled to watch the Tunnocks Teacakes dancing as part of the show. Their performance caught everyone’s attention!

The following day the papers carried reports of a ‘run‘ on the teacakes which cleared the shelves in many shops.   The Surfers are partial themselves to a teacake or two or three!

Still on the Games,
hearty congratulations to 13 year old Erraid Davies on winning the Para Bronze in the one hundred metres breast stroke final in the pool.

It was also her personal best and she was the youngest ever competitor.   Her brilliant smile after the event won everyone’s heart.   Shetland and the whole of Scotland can be proud of Erraid.  She said afterwards that none of her school friends knew she was taking part – as she did not know how to tell them!
